Love and Lust: Chapter 1The way he tossed his golden-blonde hair to the side and the
gleam in his perfect, gray eyes. He knew what I desired for when he looked at
me. I knew he knew.
The way his tan, lean, strong body glowed under the sun.
The half smile he had plastered on his mouth.
The slight mischief playing in the light of his face.
With but the slightest of a wink, he had me and I felt my
legs grow weak.
I was nudged back into reality by Josh, my best friend of 7
years now ever since I first spilled that chocolate milk all over his white tee
back in 8th grade. We still joke about how his shirt still smells
like it.
As I was snapping out of my dreamy state, I see a slight
eyebrow raise and that oh so perfected, closed in face.
“What?,” I flash a quick smile at him, “Taylor’s hot.” Another
eyebrow raise.
I shoved his chest with both hands and threw back my head,
laughing, “You know you want a bromance with him!”
At that, he laughs too and we walk to the table we a

have me second guessing the wild churning

Here we are, sitting behind these screens of glass,

Reading lines of text, yet smiling, laughing and crying.

It's strange to think that I could have this much fun -

Considering that I've never met you before, but then again

Perhaps that's the reason why I don't have to pretend.

Some people might tell me, that what we have is just a fantasy,

I doubt I'll have the chance to actually see you in this life-time.

But even so, in the time that we've spent together - Well,

I feel as though I've connected with you, more than anyone else.

I feel as though I know you better, than those just a few feet away.

Screaming into rooms next door
Hearing voices inside of me
They scream for help so silently

I blacked out but couldn't tell
Where's my heart or body cells
Waking up near cold white beds
Tears from eyes soon start to shed

I think my mother finally spoke

I tried to write a poem
But my pen ran out of ink
The neighbors wrecked my home
I simply couldn't think
The bills continue to pile
The sun will not quit shining
These words have no style
Why do I keep trying?
The dog continues barking
It's distracting to my brain
This paper has no markings
This is really such a strain

I don't know what I'm saying
But words are coming out
While I just keep praying
They make sense read aloud
These words are not inspired
By any type of feeling
There's no guidelines required
Nor any type of healing
This poem has no goal
And no ending in sight
I'm sure it's full of holes

SinkingRecently I've been sinking
Like a stone into a pond
Having skimmed across the surface
Of life for far too long

Please may I have a new heart
Along with a new mind
I cannot reverse this feeling
No, I'm sorry, not this time

Into myself like quicksand
No one sees as it swallows me
Each grain a mislaid plan

Please may I crawl inside your love
Mingle hearts until the end

Such an overused metaphor
But one which is cathartic
When choosing to explore

That I could save you my love
And in time you could save me

When I first started out I couldn't avoid just bein' cold
My life revolved the things that I was always told—
I never knew the warmth of standing up to take a bow
It was not a joy that I would ever-ever be allowed
Through all the days I feared that everything would disappear
You held me up and held me close like I was something dear
I never knew I had a part of me that you would like
I guess that's what you feel when you can't even see the light…

So this is the only way, that

It Shouldn't Matter“Show us your face” they demand
But why should I?
It’s my face, my life isn’t it?
It’s not “hiding” my reasons are my own
And that should be enough
Right?

He’s a relaxing voice
A faceless man
With a clever sense of humor
He’s a beautiful person
And that’s enough

The cruelty drags me down
I’m tired of seeing it
I’m tired of the scrutiny
I want to be a cartoon character
Stop looking at me

Why are they so determined to know?
It isn’t important
He should be judged on his own merits
A face shouldn’t matter
He is beautiful anyways

Why I Write"Why I Write"

I tried to cover my darkest parts
With compound words and works of art
But no matter how much I change
My destiny will remain the same

Writing down elusive nightmares
Drawing monsters and evil to share
In the midst of the night during rain and hail
I found a way to release pain and exhale

I found a way so when I'm alone
To the eyes of others I can show
Hoping maybe to receive some compassion
For all the misery and woes that have happened

Isn't that why we paint?; isn't that why we write?
Trying to find solace in the air of the night
While others look on and may be amused
I continue confused; my soul has been bru

She told him "no" many instances before
At first he listened, but not this time
Her words were sounds that he ignored
Because finally, he crossed the line

At first it seemed like every date
He was sweet and kind, holding doors
But even still at any rate
She found herself screaming on the bedroom floor

Because he heard, but didn't listen
Only hearing what he wanted to hear
And by pure hormones he was driven
While her pleas fell on deaf's ears

At first it started out innocent
Holding hands, kissing, locking lips
But soon it was no longer ambivalent
Once his hands swayed around her hips

During the winter season on a night very cold
Where the frosty breeze sends shivers down your spine
I met a little boy on the road decades ago
Who looked at the time to be about eight or nine.

I saw him aimlessly wandering from afar
Dodging cars who simply passed him by.
Judging by his ripped clothes he had many scars
And a pair of the most pained blue eyes

Now normally I would have just continued driving.
Who the hell cares about this little ploy?
Its tough enough in this world surviving
Without striving to care about some little boy.

For I asked myself if I was in his shoes
Would he bother to stop his

I'd Be Pretty If I'd Just...I'd be pretty if I'd just smile
If I'd cut my hair a certain way
And cover myself up in that chemical crap you call make-up
But did you ever think that just maybe...
I don't wanna be pretty
That I just wanna be me
Who cares if no one ever calls me beautiful
Who cares if I'm never asked to dance
Hell I don't even know how to dance anyway
I don't care how the world sees me
I only care how I see me
And I think there's nothing wrong with the girl in the mirror
Sure she doesn't smile much but that's cause she's going through hell
Her face may look plain without any make-up
But that's just the way I like it

One thing I know for certain
Is that I'll never know what it's like
To exist in the United States Of America
In any form other than white

I'll never know how it feels
To be African, Spanish, or Asian
Because all I ever knew
Was how to be Caucasian

I'll never know the struggle
To be forced to maintain bravery
What it's like to be oppressed
What it's like to deal with slavery

Further if I may add
I never had to endure
The rights women and gays fought for
Before we found a cure

I'll never know the feeling
Of having rights taken away
Just because of my skin
Or just because I'm gay

looking up to the stars- we'd talk about
how one day when we'd fall asleep forever, we'd be among those too.

you and I would have our special place, in the sky.

Dare I say anything could die, for that was never.

But as it passed, your view collapses. It shatters. Like a cracked window,
The view you saw, now distorted. Contorted. Deformed. Horrific.

I still believe in you. Even though all that has come to past has been nothing but true
And true it is, true with all the evil life could do
Though I look at you now, through seemingly flawless

and to everything else, blind.

and that I may be sensitive and emotional

When you do something because your gut tells you to

When you do something for the love of doing it

When you do something with no monetary goals.

Love

is When it doesn’t matter how many times you talk to someone,

Every time you do it again, it’s a new, exciting, experience

When you do your job without ever having to work

When you can look in the mirror and feel pride without vanity

When a smile is on your face and you don’t know how it got there.

The state of being when you

Just a short poem I wrote aha ^-^ After a small talk in class about the definition of work once you find something you truly love to do

And of course the quote~!
(tho I don't have it atm, I seem to have forgotten the exact words/author x__x)

Haha this was written in a matter of 20-30 minutes so I know it isn't very refined or anything ^-^'

I really like the general message of this! My favorite line in it is "When you can look in the mirror and feel pride without vanity" because that says it so well!

As a critique, and I know you didn't take as much time as you might have, I would say it would be worth it to clean up the layout of this, and make some kind of more organized pattern--for example, the line "When you do something without....[etc.]" it probably should be on the same line, because it looks, as it is, like it is one of the headings you were doing. I suspect you may have thoughts like this already, and I don't know your original intent, of course....

Its ok--I am slightly (well, more than slightly) embarrassed to be about the only one that did anything "critique-y". Now I feel like I sound like some kind of poetry-nazi, which I most assuredly am NOT.... I can barely make decent free-verse, let alone rhyming/metrical poetry....
